Pre-Update 11- Devlog 5 -Steamwork and Optimisations

Still couldn't completely getting update 11 fully working just yet. But definately progression.


I was able to successful upload a build to steam, however, upon testing, the download speed for the game was very slow at like 5kb/sec. Must be an issue with the build itself I think. I had contacted steam but no reply as of yet. Might have to spend bit more time to investigate what is going on.


On a seperate front, when I am testing the game now that more npcs, buildings and animals are added. Its starting to getting slower with lower frames. So last couple days I had spent on trying to optimise the game.


Spent sometime doing research and trying to do some mesh combine and occlusions to make its run smoother. End up finding that the new Unity6 feature of GPU Resident Drawer is very powerful. Dropping originally 7k batches to 1.8k.

Definately can do more to optimise, but this is a great start I think. Also drop the Tris from 47M to 18M and Shadow casters from 2783 to 1283. Crazy shit here. Going to do a build now to see if it run more smoother.

It's getting close to Christmas, I wanted to get Progress Update 11 out before Christmas. However, if I don't make it then I probably have to leave till next year since will be going on a holiday trip Next week.


If I don't make anymore post then Merry Christmas and happy new year everyone!

Will continue on the project more at 2025.
