Let me tell you a story, This is your story~
Finally finished preparing for the pitch grant, wish me luck!
Last two week I been trying to prepare for a pitch submission for a grant. And today I finally completed and submitted it. Not expecting anything but kind of wish for it as it will help heaps for the development of this game.
Little bit of a read below:
-------------------------------------------------------
So a little bit of a story here:
When I started preparing for the pitch two weeks ago, my initial idea is to simply compile the build so that I can test on steam and to record some gameplay footage on twitch as the current existing footage I have at the moment might not be too amazing.
But When I started testing the build, I notice a bug where every load will try and spawn new NPCs. And this cause a crash that I can't even load the game!
So I have 2 options, either to delete the save file off the testing computer manually. Or create a mainmenu where player can select and start a new game.
So I thought, why not? Might as well create a simple Main menu which is easy enough.
However, during the night on a shower thought, i thought of an idea.
Instead of a boring Main Menu, what if the main menu is a book?
And every book is a new save file? So that it feel like you are reading a book when you enter the game! (I wanted to create so that it zoom into the book then load the game as if the player themself enter into the book!)
And on the next day, to my surpise as I am look around the unity asset store for something I can use for this feature. I actually found a plugin that allow me to do exactly this! All excited I purchased the asset as start exploring with it.
Took me around a week to get it all working. Not fully what I wanted but because the deadline for submission is very soon, I don't have the time and luxury to make it fully. So instead, for now, I have the menu selections in side a book page, which I think still look very cool.

So that now I can start a new game I thought everything is smooth sailing. However, I was wrong as there are many more small bugs here and there and it took me a couple more days but still could not fix most issue to allow me to do a proper steam recording build.
So I end up trying to do a desktop screen recording instead. I was able to get the main menu recorded the way I wanted.
But the ingame footage recordings, to my surprise it doesn't feel good enough. And since I am running out of time as the submission deadline is soon and I am going to be quite busy the couple of days before submission. In the end, I decided to create the pitch video using the existing footage. Luckly I have quite a few in the past weeks.
The pitch video have a bit more content in where I talk about the game and god I hate my voice XD. But it turn out pretty good. It's not the best but I am quite happy with it, with the current early progress.
So I think, might as well let you guys take a look at the pitch video as my very first Dev Trailer! (with my voice pitch talk removed ofcourse XD).
What this mean is that now that my pitch submission is complete, I can get back into working on the game. 2 weeks ago was working on the combat system and there is still a bit I want to add.
Stay tune for more progress updates~ ^_^
